Verified Purchase. Had to use this book for a college course. I have used many of the different Adobe program books and I have to say this was my least favorite. What bothered me the most is the HTML and CSS that is provided for your lesson have many errors when you try to validate them using the W3schools validation services.

It’s frustrating and disappointing as a beginner to not be able to have a properly validated page and to not know exactly how to correct some of the errors. Hoping the authors will take the time to correct some of these errors for future students in the next edition. This book does a good job of showing you how Dreamweaver works.

It takes a step-by-step approach in every chapter you will learn some stuff. Unfortunately, I found that some stuff in DM is already different than what the book says.

This is frustrating because it seems like your always trying to play catch-up with the technology. The book is easy to read, not a lot of jargon that is hard to understand if you’re a noob. You should get this book new to ensure you get the corresponding files to use in DM.

The classroom in a book series are excellent. If you wanted to simply teach yourself, this book would be perfect. But they are college level texts, They are actually used as text books in the web design program at my college, and everyone is very impressed with them.

Clearly written, very easy to understand and follow along. They also provide free practice files you can download, to complete all exercises. I’ve had to research two things so far. One wasn’t in the book sql database connection.

One only offered a definition forms , and not an explanation or training. I was hoping to read up on forms validation. Hopefully I’ll get a use of this thing. Better off using Dreamweaver help screens so far. I am just starting out with this book. I really like the text. The steps are very clear and easy to follow. I bought the Kindle version.

There is a code inside the book that takes you to another digital version that is a web based, multimedia book. I can blow up the pictures as large as I want and easily follow the lesson. I take an hour a day to study. The technical writing is clear and easy to understand. The photos are bright and clear. It is one of the best digital technical training books I have ever used. Have used Dreamweaver for many years. Updated to CC to try it out. Cancelled my Adobe subscription and staying with Dreamweaver 8.

If new to web site construction, go with WordPress and save tons of money. The book’s binding is not adequate, the pages are separating at the book seams despite kind and gentle use. This book is intended as a sustained-use reference for a college course and should physically hold up better under the rigors of such use, especially for the price.

Accomplished What I Needed I rented this book for class. It was a nice study guide for the quizzes. The exercises were helpful, but I can safely say that coding and Dreamweaver are not my forte.

I opted for a hard copy because it’s so much easier to flip through the pages and have it on the desk beside the computer whilst you work through the lessons. I am almost a beginner in that I have been using Dreamweaver MX for years, but didn’t really write much of the code by hand.

Dreamweaver CC is certainly very much more to take on board and if this book is anything to go by, you need a much better understanding of HTML! The first few chapters are necessarily a little basic and I was aching to get started on building a website. Most of the instructions were easy enough to follow, although I’m not sure I paid a great deal of attention to ‘why’ I was doing things, so I need to dip back into the book and understand why the actions I took gave the results on screen.

Having read early on in the book about responsive sites, I was anxious to get to that Chapter, but strangely enough it came as one of the ‘bonus’ chapters that are available from the publisher as downloadable PDFs. In other words, the most important chapter was effectively part of an additional e-book and, as I only have one monitor, it was awkward to flip backwards and forwards to complete the exercises.
